Theatres recognised in Civic Trust Awards 2020

We are delighted to see a number of theatre and performance venues recognised in the 2020 Civic Trust Awards.

The Civic Trust Awards encourages the very best in architecture, promoting improvements to the built environment through design, sustainability, inclusiveness and accessibility, and rewards projects that offer a positive social, cultural, environmental or economic benefit to their local communities.

Congratulations to the Royal Opera House and Nevill Holt Opera for being Civic Trust Award winners, given to projects demonstrating excellence in architecture or design, whilst being sustainable, accessible and providing a positive civic contribution.

The Royal Opera House project also won the Michael Middleton Special Award, given to an outstanding restoration project or new build within a conservation area.

Well done to Bloomsbury Theatre Refurbishment and Music Hall, Aberdeen for being Highly Commended in the Civic Trust Awards, as each makes a significant contribution to the quality and appearance of the built environment.

Congratulations to Battersea Arts Centre for winning the AABC Conservation Award, given to outstanding projects which demonstrate the highest standards of historic building conservation.

Alexandra Palace East Wing Regeneration Project and Chichester Festival Theatre were also recognised and received Highly Commended in the AABC Conservation Award, as each makes a significant contribution to the quality and appearance of the built environment.
