New Conference 17: Theatres & Placemaking contributors announced

The following people have now been confirmed to speak at Conference 17: Theatres & Placemaking. They join already confirmed contributors from theatres, architects, developers, planning authorities and councils championing cultural development, helping us discuss and debate the role of theatres and placemaking.

Dr Cara Courage is an independent researcher and strategist at Futurecity - a leading culture and placemaking agency. She will be introducing the phrase 'placemaking' and putting it in context for Conference 17.

Julian Middleton from Aedas Arts Team recently worked with Jatinder Verma from Tara Arts and together they will be reflecting the needs and identity of local community through a case study of Tara Arts.

Ian Timms is Assistant Director for Business Development at Taunton Dean and West Somerset and he will be talking alongside leading architect Tim Foster about the plans for a new cultural quarter based around the redevelopment of the Brewhouse Theatre.

Anna Strongman is a partner at Argent LLP - developers who are well known for their groundbreaking work on placemaking and in particular their development at Kings Cross.

Sian Alexander is Executive Director at the Lyric Hammersmith and will be contributing to one of the panels, drawing on her previous roles at Bush Theatre and Arts Council England and her overall experience of theatres and their role in placemaking.
