Press Release: Fifth Round of Small Grants Announced by The Theatres Trust

The Theatres Trust is pleased to announce its fifth round of small capital grants to theatres. Among the five successful theatres in this round are the Grade II* listed Trinity Theatre in Tunbridge Wells and the community-owned Shanklin Theatre on the Isle of Wight.

Norwich Theatre Royal to create a new training and education centre

Norwich City Council consulted The Theatres Trust on the above planning application for the demolition of The Chapel at the rear of the Norwich Theatre Royal and erection of a three storey workshop and education and skills training centre. The Theatres Trust supports the application.

First steps to restoring the Derby Hippodrome

Derby City Council consulted The Theatres Trust on the above above planning and listed building applications for the change of use of the ‘front of house’ section of the former Derby Hippodrome Theatre from Class D2 (Assembly and Leisure) to Classes A3 (Restaurants and cafés) and B1 (Offices). The application also includes re-roofing the auditorium and stage house to preserve the remaining features of the theatre until the funds can be raised to complete a full restoration. The Trust supported the application.
