Theatre 2016 conference report highlights key issues for the future of the industry

In partnership with The Stage and John Good, the Theatre 2016 post-conference Report has been released. Theatre 2016 took place in May 2016 in London’s West End with over 600 delegates and 60 speakers. This two-day conference, organised in partnership with 13 industry bodies including the Theatres Trust, was the first major, industry-wide conference for over a decade.

As well as rounding up all the news coverage from the event, the Report includes several in-depth keynotes, reports and full transcripts including Samuel West’s rousing speech.

Old Vic Outreach Programme using the Bermondsey Centre theatre

The Theatres Trust supported the above planning application for the temporary change the use of the D1 theatre space at the former Bermondsey Centre to a stand alone theatre (Sui Generis) for a 12 month period.

Introducing the Open up! Project

2nd August 2016

computer and plans Back in June we announced our £5,200 grant received from the Heritage Lottery Fund’s Sharing Heritage programme towards our Open up! Archive Project. The award will allow us to run a summer internship to catalogue our collection of architectural drawings of Regional Theatres (that is, theatres outside London). The project begins next week, on 8 August, when our 5 interns start.

Crown Theatre in Eccles faces demolition

Application: 16/68464/FUL and 16/68465/LBC

The Trust objected to the above planning and listed building applications for the complete demolition of the former Lyceum/ Crown Theatre in Eccles for construction of a seven storey mixed use building.
