26th October 2015

The Greater London Authority has released the ‘A-Z of Planning and Culture’ guide.

This guide is for the people and organisations shaping London’s future: councils, developers, planners, community groups and cultural bodies.

It provides examples of good practice, where culture is being included in developments and gives information about what developers, planners and community groups can already do, using existing frameworks, such as Section 106 agreements and turning venues into Assets of Community Value.

Brixton's Ovalhouse relocation plans backed by The Theatres Trust

23rd October 2015

Ross Anthony, Planning Adviser from The Theatres Trust, has been quoted in The Stage.

South London theatre Ovalhouse has had its plans to move to a new building backed by The Theatres Trust.

Writing to Lambeth Council, The Theatres Trust’s Planning Adviser Ross Anthony said the trust fully supported the plans, which he said would make “Ovalhouse a more sustainable organisation in the long term”.

Anthony did express concern that the plans only depicted two dressing rooms and highlighted that an adjacent studio could be used for this purpose.

However, he praised Ovalhouses’s upgrade to a larger venue and said that the increase in space would bolster the theatre’s outreach programmes.
