Six theatres get new improvement grants

Theatres Trust, and the UK Small Grants Scheme have been mentioned in British Theatre Guide.

Theatres Trust’s press release on the recipients for the ninth round of UK Small Grants Scheme was published by the British Theatre Guide. It included details on the projects the Trust will support for: The Place Theatr in Bedford, Plough Arts Centre in Devon, Market Theatre in Ledbury, Grand Pavilion in Matlock Bath, Leatherhead Theatre in Surrey and Carnegie Theatre and Arts Centre in Workington

Jon Morgan Director of Theatres Trust, and the UK Small Grants Scheme have been mentioned in The Stage.

Theatres Trust director Jon Morgan was quoted, saying “I’m proud that our UK theatres small grants scheme, now in its ninth round, continues to help theatres make significant improvements to secure and improve their buildings’ fabric. The results will provide a more accessible and welcoming customer experience for their communities.”

Theatres Trust announce six theatres to be awarded grants from UK Theatres Small Grants Scheme

Theatres Trust is pleased to announce that it is awarding six small capital grants to a range of theatres across the country from its UK Small Grants Scheme. Launched in April 2012, the Theatres Trust receives support from the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation and Judy Craymer MBE awarding grants of up to £5,000 to theatres across the UK with charitable status to address urgent building repairs and help theatres in need and at risk.

Grants from the UK Theatres Small Grants Scheme are awarded as follows:

The Place Theatre, Bedford
Plough Arts Centre, Great Torrington
Leatherhead Theatre
Market Theatre, Ledbury
Grand Pavilion, Matlock Bath
Carnegie Theatre and Arts Centre, Workington

Jon Morgan, Director at the Theatres Trust said: “I’m proud that our UK Theatres Small Grants Scheme, now in its ninth Round, continues to help theatres make significant improvements to secure and improve their buildings’ fabric. Letter: Money could be better spent

Theatres Trust has been mentioned in letter to the editor in The Scarborough News.

The Trust was mentioned amongst those will to provide support and advice on how best to reinvigorate The Futurist Theatre, Scarborough in a letter to the editor about the financial arguments between restoration and demolition. The latter including the cost of having to reinforce the cliff as the theatre building is removed.

Applicants must have extensive experience and knowledge in one or more of the following areas:

- As a planning lawyer
- As a theatre owner and/or operator
- As a performer or creative team member
- In fundraising and advocacy
- In finance and business management
