Theatres given final warning to ensure ceilings are safe

Theatres Trust architecture adviser Claire Appleby has been quoted in The Stage.

Theatres Trust architecture adviser Claire Appleby was quoted as saying “We are pleased to see that many theatres have already carried out the necessary ceiling inspections, including theatres across the country owned by commercial operators, and also many historic West End theatres, but for those theatres who haven’t, we urge you to contact us or the ABTT for further guidance.”

She added that capital works to improve theatre ceilings may be eligible for funding from the trust’s Theatres Protection Fund, with rounds in autumn and winter this year.

Introducing the Open up! Project

computer and plans Back in June we announced our £5,200 grant received from the Heritage Lottery Fund’s Sharing Heritage programme towards our Open up! Archive Project. The award will allow us to run a summer internship to catalogue our collection of architectural drawings of Regional Theatres (that is, theatres outside London). The project begins next week, on 8 August, when our 5 interns start.

Arts Council England investment 2018 - 2022

Arts Council England, after consulting with the sector about how they should invest in art and culture, have made some changes to their investment approach for 2018-22. Some of these changes include lengthening National Portfolio agreements from 3 to 4 years, introducing three funding bands into the National Portfolio and Changes to our Grants from the Arts and strategic funding.

ACE Capital Large Grants scheme open for next round

ACE has today opened the next round of Capital: Large Grants for applications towards buildings and infrastructure. The minimum capital grant available is £500,000. Grants of £5 million or more are likely to be exceptional.

BIG Lottery Fund's Coastal Communities Fund Re-opens for Applications (Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland)

14th July 2016

At least £90m of new funding will be available across the UK from 2017/18 to 2020/21. In this funding round public, private and voluntary sector organisations in coastal communities can apply for grants of over £50,000 for projects that support economic diversification regeneration of coastal communities.
