Funding to Enhance Community Facilities in England, Scotland & Wales

Under the Sita Trust’s Enhancing Communities Programme Core Fund, grants of up to £60,000 are available to not for profit organisations, community groups, schools, parish councils, local authorities and charities for projects that make physical improvements to community facilities and historic buildings / structures.

Heritage Enterprise Programme (UK)

The Heritage Lottery Fund has announced that its £125 million Heritage Enterprise grants programme is open for applications. The scheme aims to support not-for-profit organisations to help them work in partnership with the private sector in the restoration of unused historic building and sites and unlock their economic potential.

Council upholds Southbank Asset of Community Value status

The decision by a London borough to list a part of the south bank of the Thames traditionally used by skateboarders as an ‘asset of community value’ (ACV) has been upheld following a review. In July last year campaigners succeeded in having the undercroft of the Southbank Centre listed as an ACV by the London Borough of Lambeth, which meant that under the Localism Act they would be able to bid to purchase the site if it came up for sale. The site’s owner, the Southbank Centre, subsequently asked Lambeth Council to review its decision.

Arts Council England hits back over regions

The Arts Council has responded to the debate on the regional balance of parts funding with a report. This England: How Arts Council England uses its investment to shape a national cultural ecology, sets out how the ten year ACE strategy “Great art for everyone” is redressing the balance, and attempts to put the debate into the context of a national strategy that includes the resources of London and how they can benefit the regions.
