Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG) is helping to build a brighter future by supporting WWF’s Earth Hour, a spectacular and symbolic lights out event that focuses the world’s attention on our planet, and the need to protect it.

On 29 March, at 8.30pm, ATG’s portfolio of 40 venues will be joining forces with thousands of iconic landmarks globally, from Times Square to the Eiffel Tower, as they show their support for our brilliant world. Earth Hour’s unique display of darkness has become a global phenomenon with hundreds of millions of individuals coming together each year.

Hinckley's Regent theatre: Investor sought for auditorium plan

Campaigners are seeking an investor to bring a 1920s Leicestershire theatre back into use. An application to raze Hinckley’s Regent theatre has been replaced with plans to demolish just the rear of the building, leaving its art deco facade. If they can find an investor, residents say they are “hopeful” the whole site can be saved, including the theatre’s 1,200-seat auditorium.

Southbank Centre withholds Festival Wing in final search for alternative funding model

Southbank Centre’s Board will withhold its planning application for the Festival Wing, following Mayor Boris Johnson’s statement (15 January 2014) that the skate park should be retained in its current position in any redevelopment. The Board will now undertake a final search for an alternative funding model to keep the widely supported Festival Wing redevelopment scheme alive, along with the promise of free art and culture for millions each year.

The Mayor has the final say in the planning process and the scheme is therefore unlikely to gain planning permission without the retention of the skate park. The Mayor made clear that he supports the overall ambition of the Festival Wing scheme and understands the funding challenges faced by Southbank Centre.

Southbank Centre puts redevelopment application on hold after protests

The Southbank Centre has put its planning application for a major redevelopment on hold for three months following a range of opposition. Mayor of London Boris Johnson intervened recently to say he could not back the ‘Festival Wing’ development plans if they involved the loss of a space used by skateboarders under the Queen Elizabeth Hall.
