Creative Scotland announces the appointment of new directors

Following a recent recruitment process, Creative Scotland announced the appointment of four new directors. This is the first step in a restructuring process for the organisation, and a refocus of roles, that aims to improve the way they operate across all aspects of their work.

Leonie Bell has been appointed as Director of Arts & Engagement; Philip Deverell has been appointed as Director of Strategy; Gerard Kelly has been appointed as Director of Funding Operations; and Ian Stevenson has been appointed as Director of Finance.

Stars join to fight against Hammersmith's Riverside Studios rebuild

Theatre industry heavyweights have waded in to object to redevelopment plans for Riverside Studios just days before Hammersmith and Fulham council decides its fate. Stars of the creative world have joined the founding director, Peter Gill, 74, in supporting residents who feel replacing the famous arts complex with a much larger centre will be an eyesore on the Thames and that the height, massing and design will affect the character of the area.

Community group 'thrilled' to run Taunton's Brewhouse Theatre

A community group are jumping for joy after Taunton Deane Council decided to hand them the day-to-day running of the Brewhouse Theatre. An executive panel of councillors agreed to grant a five-year lease to Taunton Theatre Association (TTA) at a meeting last week. Members of TTA hope to have the 352-seater venue open by April next year.
