It's a Green Light for The First Night Riders 20 - 23 June 2014

The First Night Riders charity motorbike and classic car adventure, which raises money to help The Theatrical Guild support backstage and front of house staff, has announced new dates for 2014. Organisers David and Brenda Edelstein, from track systems specialist Triple E, will be leading next year’s event and are inviting riders and classic car enthusiasts to join them from 20 – 23 June 2014.

Town and Country Planning Association release report 'Planning Out Poverty'

The TCPA, supported by the Webb Memorial Trust, has today launched in Parliament a snew report, ‘Planning out Poverty’, which argues that planning has become increasingly disconnected from people’s lives and has lost its focus on securing greater social equity.

New look for former Ipswich Rep after major pub refurbishment

The Rep, formerly the town’s repertory theatre, in Tower Street, became a pub after the band new Wolsey Theatre was built. Now owners Greene King have made a major investment and it has re-opened again ready for the run up to Christmas.

Work begins on tearing down exterior of BCCA building

Demolition of Boscombe’s BCCA building moved closer with work to the former community centre’s exterior under way. Last week campaigners dressed in Victorian clothes held a mock funeral march for the Bournemouth Centre for Community Arts, which has faced demolition since plans for affordable homes were approved in June last year.

Narrow rejection for Bournemouth Pavilion Gardens revisions

Proposals to change the design of the Pavilion Gardens leisure complex in Bournemouth have been narrowly rejected despite being earlier recommended for approval by planning officers. In August 2013, Osborne returned with amended proposals to satisfy what it called changing market needs, expectations and design considerations.

Bangor performing arts centre gets go-ahead

A £12m performing arts and technology innovation centre has been given the go-ahead in County Down. The facility will be built opposite the South Eastern Regional College campus in Bangor, and is due to open in 2015. It will feature a theatre and rehearsal studios, along with teaching facilities for students to learn about technology.

Plans for the facility were shelved in 2010, but Employment and Learning Minister Stephen Farry said he had secured the necessary funding. The centre will have rehearsal and production studios and will have the capability to stage professional productions.
