Multi-million pound transformation on the cards for Darlington's Civic Theatre

A multi-million pound transformation could be on the cards for a much-loved Edwardian theatre. This autumn, Darlington Borough Council will submit a £5m bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund in an attempt to revive the town’s Civic Theatre – often referred to as the jewel in its crown.

Perth Theatre fans invited take their seat to raise £1million

Fans of the Scottish theatre are being given the opportunity to own a piece of history. A new campaign to help fund the multi-million-pound transformation of Perth Theatre has been launched. It is hoped that £1 million can be raised through the Take Your Seat initiative, which will be used to equip the popular venue with the latest facilities.

Redditch Palace Theatre virtual curtain's up on online tour

Redditch’s historic Palace Theatre can now be viewed from anywhere in the world thanks to the creation of an online virtual tour. Residents now have an access all areas pass to the Alcester Street venue as a result of a link up between Redditch Borough Council and Solihull based photographer Kevin Harper as part of the Edwardian theatre’s 100th anniversary celebrations.

Derby Hippodrome campaigners confident of raising funds

Campaigners trying to save the Derby Hippodrome said they are confident they can buy the building. Its ownership is unclear after the previous proprietor said he had sold the Grade II listed building, but refused to name the purchaser.

A new £22m theatre has opened its doors in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. The Cast theatre’s first production is The Glee Club, about 1960s Doncaster miners who started a singing group, which was in the West End in 2002.

Leonie Hamilton, 24, from Pontnewynydd, works behind the scenes of stage productions, organising props, costume and scene changes and cues for the performers.
