Construction of World Stage Design 2013 recyclable theatre has begun

Construction of Wales’ newest theatre venue has begun. A temporary, fully functioning recyclable theatre is being built for the World Stage Design 2013 festival, opening in Cardiff this September. The Willow Theatre will be built in under three weeks in the courtyard of the Anthony Hopkins Centre (former stables to Cardiff Castle) at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama (RWCMD) in Cardiff.

A campaign to raise quarter of a million pounds for new toilets to update an aging theatre has been launched. Trustees of Barn Theatre, on Bluehouse Lane, in Oxted, want to raise the money to build the new loos for the performers and back-stage staff.

New apprentices for ambassadors at ATG

New youth theatre building given go-ahead in Burnley

Burnley Youth Theatre’s new building has been given the final go-ahead after experts confirmed that the land is safe for development. The plans were provisionally approved by Burnley Council, allowing work to start on the annex which will house activity rooms, seating and projection screens.

Change in status moves Cochrane theatre closer to demolition

The Cochrane Theatre in Holborn has moved one step closer to demolition after losing its protection under planning regulation. Local authority Camden Council has decided the site should be considered as a place of education rather than a theatre.
