Church hall goes into new phase as Glasgow West End newest theatre

A new theatre space is to open in a Glasgow West End church. The Cottiers Kelvinbridge Theatre will be located in the newly refurbished main hall of Lansdowne Church in Glasgow’s Great Western Road. It is being developed by the Four Acres Charitable Trust which operates Cottiers Theatre in Hyndland.

Popular Croydon cafe Matthews Yard celebrates first year in business

9th April 2013

Matthews Yard officially opened on April 21, 2012, and has enjoyed a successful first year in business. The venue started as a cafe and co-working space but has since grown into a hub for a variety of projects including Croydon Tech City and Croydon Radio. It also became one of the first crowd funded theatres in the country after more than £6,000 was raised from public donations to build a arts studio.

BDP wins Aberdeen Music Hall renovation

BDP has been chosen for the renovation of Aberdeen’s Music Hall. The building, listed at category A, is being overhauled by Aberdeen Performing Arts (APA), who shortlisted five firms for the project.

Haworth Tompkins' Shed opens at the National Theatre

Haworth Tompkins’ temporary studio outside the National Theatre, The Shed, opened on April 9th 2013. Designed and built in a year, it gives the theatre a third auditorium for the year that the Cottesloe will be closed during the NT Future redevelopment, also designed by Haworth Tompkins.

Felixstowe's Spa Pavilion redevelopment limits to be set

The council appointed Jones Lang LaSalle to market the Spa Pavilion last year with the only condition being that any development should add ‘cultural and tourist’ value to the town. The council said a suitable buyer has yet to be found.
