Wembley seeks projects for public performance space

Brent Council is launching a national competition calling for proposals on how to best use a new community space in Wembley. Make Your Idea Happen Here! is seeking ideas for how to make use of Pop-Down Square, near Wembley Stadium in north-west London, which is described as “part public square, part flexible covered space”.

Keswick’s Theatre by the Lake unveils £700,000 plan for restaurant revamp

Theatre by the Lake in Keswick is planning a £700,000 restaurant and cafe development to ensure a more secure future for the venue. Following a grant of £400,000 from Arts Council England, the Lake District venue plans to build a new restaurant and cafe adjacent to its performance centre.

Faringdon Old Pump House theatre revamped as parkour centre

A disused theatre is to be transformed into a centre for parkour – also known as free running – in Oxfordshire. Organisers of the Old Pump House Project in Faringdon have raised £19,000 to revamp the building which was last used as a theatre in 1994. The new facility is expected to open in May.

Get out and about with Showlight 2013
