The Theatres Trust is seeking an experienced qualified Accountant to join its staff team. As the Finance Officer of this charity and public body which promotes the better protection of theatre buildings you will be responsible for the preparation of financial reports; annual financial accounts, quarterly management accounts, budgets and cash-flow forecasts; project management, claims and monitoring; grants payments; and all day to day financial transactions.

New Edge Hill University Arts Centre on target for September opening

The Arts Centre at Edge Hill University is a £2m plus project that will see a complete overhaul of an existing building that currently houses the Rose and Studio Theatres and the University’s Performing Arts Department.

Monmouth's Savoy theatre looks to new era

13th August 2012

The trustees of Wales’ oldest theatre building are moving into a new era with a new director. Chris Ryde, who became one of ten trustees in 2010 and was chairman of the charitable trust until last month, has become its full-time director. He will be spearheading the trust’s ambition to make the Savoy a successful entertainment venue that breathes life into the local community. Mr Ryde has taken early retirement from working in the theatre and television industry to take up the challenge.

Lowestoft Marina Theatre 'Next Stage Appeal' launched

10th August 2012

People in Waveney were this week invited to “sponsor a seat” at Lowestoft’s biggest theatre as part on an appeal to raise funds for a major expansion of the building. The Marina Theatre has launched The Next Stage appeal to raise £100,000 to more than treble its floor space and fund a major improvement to its facilities.

Sheffield's Montgomery Theatre to host first professional touring show as redevelopment plans drawn up

The Montgomery Theatre on Surrey Street seats 420 people and boasts four dressing rooms, yet it remains underused. And that is something that Julie Fancher, the theatre’s creative and performing arts officer, is working hard to change. Along with the rest of the five-strong team at the Sheffield Christian Educational Council, which runs the theatre, Julie is working towards a redevelopment of Montgomery Hall, where the theatre is located.

Restore Ally Pally's theatre first, say public

A public consultation on Terry Farrell’s masterplan for a revamp of Alexandra Palace has said work to re-open the existing theatre and BBC studios should be carried out before a planned hotel. The consultation ended in June with a follow-up survey by the Alexandra Park & Charitable Trust, the group which runs the north London venue.

Bid to bring Welholme Galleries back into use attracts widespread support

8th August 2012

A plan to transform Welholme Galleries into a theatre and community hub has received much support. As revealed in the Grimsby Telegraph last week, a charitable trust wants to bring the iconic Grimsby landmark back into public use once again, creating jobs and training opportunities for local people. The £1.25 million proposal would see the grade two listed building house a 250-seater theatre and an entirely redeveloped space to host exercise classes, social gatherings and free community events.
