Alterations and extensions to the Ventnor Winter Gardens

Isle of Wight Council has consulted The Theatres Trust on the above planning application for alterations including extensions to the Ventnor Winter Gardens’ Pavilion. The proposals include a 37 room hotel with restaurant, bar and conference facilities.

The Association of British Theatre Technicians is delighted to announce the British tour of The Guthrie Thrust Stage 1948 – 2011: A Living Legacy exhibition, created earlier this year for the Prague 2011 Quadrennial of Scenography and Theatre Architecture.

Meeting on Boscombe Arts Centre's future

Around 60 people attended a public meeting to discuss how to stop the Boscombe Centre for Community Arts (BCCA) from being replaced by housing. The event was organised by the Friends of the BCCA and people met at the Portman Hotel on Ashley Road in Boscombe.

Five groups fold after Arts Council of Wales cuts grants

BBC Wales has learned that Gwent Theatre, Theatr Powys, Community Dance Wales, Welsh Independent Dance and the Cardiff Bay Arts Trust folded after their last grants ran out. The Arts Council of Wales (ACW) says difficult decisions had to be made. A group of AMs is planning to look at how the arts industry has adapted since the changes were adopted a year ago.

Alterations to the Get-in at Bournemouth’s Pavilion Theatre

Planning and Listed building applications: 7-2012-1570-AU & AV

Bournemouth Borough Council has consulted The Theatres Trust on the above applications for alterations to the elevations to provide a new entrance, emergency exit bridge and access to the east promenior from a new public terrace at the Pavilion Theatre in Bournemouth.

Residents of Aberdeen have voted in favour of a controversial project to regenerate a Victorian gardens to include cultural venue

3rd March 2012

The vote in favour of the City Garden project means that Aberdeen City Council planners will now consider the plans, which would raise the level of the sunken Union Terrace Gardens to allow the construction of a new square, as well as a cultural venue.
