Funding for the council-run Theatr Gwaun complex in Fishguard is to stop in March. Pembrokeshire council cabinet voted unanimously to end support for Theatr Gwaun after hearing it was making annual losses of more than £60,000.

Live acts return to restored Southwell theatre

A former theatre in Southwell has been used for performances for the first time in about 50 years after being restored. The theatre restoration was the final phase of development at the Old Theatre Deli, Market Place. The 200-year-old venue is above the deli and was used until the 1960s. The stage has been restored and the theatre has been converted into a restaurant with a bar.

London's artsdepot rallies support to fight funding cuts

The arts centre in North Finchley is encouraging people to attend a protest against Barnet Council’s proposal to cut its funding. artsdepot in Nether Street will lead the flash mob at the North London Business Park, in Oakleigh Road South, at 4.30pm today.

Shared Experience becomes resident company at Oxford Playhouse

Shared Experience is to become the resident theatre company at Oxford Playhouse. The partnership will see the touring company open many of its new shows at the venue, with which it will also share resources. The two organisations will job share a producer, and Playhouse staff will work on Shared Experience’s activity, including supporting its education programme, marketing, finance and administration.

London Councils to cull capital’s £3m arts support budget

5th January 2011

London Councils is to axe its entire £3 million financial support for the arts across the capital. The umbrella body for local authorities in the capital, London Councils raises money from individual boroughs which is then allocated to voluntary sector projects across the city. Theatre companies that will be affected include Theatre Royal Stratford East, Tamasha Theatre Company and the Tricycle Theatre.
