Lostboys aiming to restore historic former Railway Institute theatre in Derby

Tough choices for South Lanarkshire Council over East Kilbride Village Theatre

The curtain could come down on East Kilbride Village Theatre for good if councillors are forced to make maximum savings in their bid to balance the books. The theatre, along with the closure of the Red Deer Centre, Hunter House and the John Hastie Museums, which could make a total saving of over £900,000, are just some of almost 290 cuts being proposed.

Call for ideas to save Theatr Harlech from closure

A public meeting to provide information about the future of closure-threatened Theatr Harlech will be held this month. Harlech regeneration group, Harlech a’r Cylch, called for the meeting after months of uncertainty following the Arts Council’s withdrawal of £72,000 funding from the theatre.

Scarborough's Futurist theatre plans announced

Plans for the future of a 90-year-old theatre in Scarborough are being considered. The building is in need of repair and the borough council set up a task group to discuss its future. Proposals for a trust to run the building are to be considered by Scarborough Borough Council on Friday. The council bought the theatre in 1985

Applause from firms as repairs to Hippodrome get under way

The first part of a five-week programme of repair work to the former Hippodrome theatre in Derby has begun. Work will include removing loose debris and repairing and strapping masonry on the Macklin Street facade, which is expected to cost around £40,000.
