Local designs pour in for Borehamwood Ark

A competition to design a logo for Borehamwood’s new community theatre has received an overwhelming response. Local schoolchildren were invited to get their creative thinking caps on and come up with a design that would capture the essence of The Ark theatre, to be opened in September at Hertswood School. The image will be used on the entrance gates, the website, stationery and even the building. Final judging will be complete final judging by the end of May

York Barbican redeveloper goes into administration

The decision to tear up the contract with a company wanting to redevelop the Barbican centre in York has been vindicated after the company called in the administrators. Absolute Leisure had signed the papers in December to begin work on the refurbishment of the theatre and the construction of new restaurants to the front of the building. York Council now have clear views as to what the building can be used for and the imperative is to bring it back into public use as soon as possible

'End-of-pier' review results in an upgrade for Eastbourne and possibly theatre

The pier in Eastbourne had its listing upgraded by Culture Minister Barbara Follett, from Grade II to Grade II*, following a review by English Heritage. Today’s listing upgrade could assist with the piers’ owners plans for renovations. These might include repairs to the theatre as well as new attractions,
