£3m upgrade of The Cut in London unveiled

London confirmed as ‘world cultural leader’

A new report, commissioned by the London Development Agency, ‘London – A Cultural Audit’ has confirmed that London leads the cultural way in relation to other major world cities, with theatre at the top of the list.

It is the first quantitative comparison of London’s cultural environment with four other major world cities – New York, Paris, Tokyo and Shanghai. With more museums and galleries, more theatres and concert halls, and more music venues and cinemas, London is ahead on many indicators, from ‘high art’ to popular culture.

Harrogate's historic theatre may falter post ACE budget cuts

A Harrogate MP has warned that budget cuts for the town’s theatre could have a “potentially catastrophic effect”. Harrogate Theatre recently lost its appeal against the Art Council’s decision to cut its annual funding from £409,000 to £150,000.
