Campaigners gearing up to save Hexagon theatre

The Hexagon Theatre, within Hall Garth School, is earmarked for demolition along with the school itself as part of the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) plan. Hall Garth and neighbouring King’s Manor will make way for a new superschool accommodating both sets of pupils, if the proposals go ahead.

Cromer Pier Theatre set for improved ventilation

Windcatchers installed when the theatre was revamped during a £2.5m seafront regeneration scheme five years ago have “not proved effective” says a report to councillors. Talks are under way over installing air conditioning at Cromer Pavilion following customer concerns about stifling conditions during summer shows.

Fears over future of Tameside Hippodrome

Live Nation’s contract to run the theatre expired at the end of last month when the building reverted to the council’s control. The venue is now closed for `refurbishment’ and there are fears it may never reopen as a theatre.

Theatres Trust meets Derby City Council to save Hippodrome

2nd April 2008

Following partial demolition of the listed grade II Derby Hippodrome on Friday 28 March, The Theatres Trust has met with senior officials of Derby City Council to discuss plans to secure the future of the theatre. Mhora Samuel, Director and Mark Price, Planning and Architecture Adviser for The Theatres Trust met with Richard Williams, Assistant Director of Regeneration and Councillor Evonne Williams at the council’s offices.
