Theatres Trust has been quoted regarding the controversial plans to redevelop Fairfield Halls:
“Campaigners including London Symphony Orchestra conductor Simon Rattle and the Theatres Trust, also previously criticised the closure of Fairfield Halls for two years while work takes place, and lobbied for a phased closure which would have allowed one of the complex’s buildings to stay open at any time.”

£200k grant accelerates Theatre Royal Wakefield creative hub plans

Theatres Trust and the Spend a Penny Scheme have been mentioned in The Stage.

Theatres Trust and Spend a Penny were mentioned regarding the plans for a new creative hub at the Theatre Royal Wakefield, which the council granted the project a £200,000 funding boost. This means that “work can now get underway on the theatre’s Centre for Creativity, which will feature a studio theatre, a cafe and bar and better toilets … funded by the Theatres Trust’s Spend a Penny scheme.

Theatres Trust’s role in the development of plans for Fairfield Halls as part of Croydon’s new cultural quarter is mentioned int the article which states that,
“The proposals have also benefited from input from the Theatres Trust, whom Croydon Council invited to carry out a Peer Advisory Review and provide comments on the design of the Fairfield Halls component. Following the review, a number of changes were made to the scope of the project, including changing the seating capacity in the Ashcroft Theatre and altering the get-in plans to the rear of the building.

£6m for new Sunderland venue

Scarborough’s Futurist loses battle for listing to prevent demolition

Theatres Trust has been mentioned in The Stage.

Theatres Trust was quoted regarding appealing the demolition of Scaborough’s Futurist Theatre: “Local support for the building has grown strong over the last few months and campaigners are continuing to battle to save the Futurist. We support the Save the Futurist campaign group and other stakeholders who would like to see the Futurist Theatre restored for cultural use.

“[The Futurist] could provide a large-scale theatre for the presentation of musicals, comedy, music and drama in Yorkshire, thanks to its capacity and flytower, and would be an immense cultural and economic benefit to the people of Scarborough.”
