The Theatres Trust

New donations to Theatres Trust archive

7th February 2017

in January 2017 Theatres Trust received two donations to our archive: A volume relating to the Carlton Theatre, Haymarket and a scrapbook previously owned by theatre architect, E. A. Woodrow.

The first donation is a volume relating to the Carlton Theatre, now Cineworld on Haymarket in central London. The volume, compiled in 1928 or shortly after, includes an inventory of the new theatre, photographs, and architectural plans.

The second donation is a notebook containing cuttings from newspapers compiled by E. A. Woodrow, architect of theatres including the Grand, Clapham. The cuttings relate to Woodrow’s life and career, as well as theatre fires and safety measures around the turn of the twentieth century, a subject which was of particular interest to him.
