Colour photograph taken from the back of the first balcony at the City Varieties, following refurbishment. This view is across the auditorium towards the boxes, arched proscenium and stage. The view takes in the lower and upper balconies, the fronts of which are painted cream and decorated with gold festoons. To the top of the photograph the restored historic ceiling with gold plasterwork decoration can be seen. The stage is covered by a red curtain with gold trimmings.
