Façade of the Grand Theatre, Cockermouth, 1997

1295
001295.jpg

Colour photograph showing the façade of the Grand Theatre in Cockermouth. Taken from across the road, it shows a two-storey building with a frontage in three major bays, all of which are channel-rusticated at first floor level. The outer bays are slightly advanced pavilions, flanking a pedimented centre that bears the name ‘Grand Theatre’ in Art Nouveau lettering over a semi-circular window. Shop front glazing occupies the two ground floor corners, with a recessed entrance to a veterinary surgery in the centre. A plain brick sidewall is visible at an acute angle to the left.
