  • Description
Colour photograph showing the façade and a side elevation of the Congress Theatre in Cwmbran. Taken from across Gwent Square, it shows a plain stone façade with a bracketed cornice. A sidewall can be seen to the left. A large clock forms the centrepiece of the façade with the name of the theatre around the outside and a standing painted fibreglass figure either side; a male shepherd (‘Dai’) on the left, and a female figure (‘Myfanwy’) to the right. Both figures have animals at their feet and apparently turn according to barometric pressure. A shop (‘Home Style’) occupies the projected ground floor with a glazed canopy over. The entrance to the theatre is to the right of the main block, set back within a plain concrete block.
