Façade of the former Grand Theatre, Derby, circa 1969
  • Description
Colour photograph showing the façade of Tiffany’s nightclub, formerly the Grand Theatre, in Derby. It shows a four-storey symmetrical façade situated at the end of a T-junction. Stuccoed and of nine bays, it has entablature above the ground, second and third floors and giant Corinthian pilasters framing tripartite windows on the wider end bays at first and second floor level. Pilasters also articulate three central bays, but are masked by signage. The larger sign above bears the name ‘Tiffany’s’, with a more colourful one below reading ‘Open for your dancing pleasure with the Chris Jones Roundabout’. The three centre bays have oeil-de-boeuf windows in the upper storey with ‘Grand Theatre’ appearing just below.
