  • Description
Colour photograph showing the façade of Walkers Bingo & Social Club, formerly the Hippodrome, in Derby. Taken from across the junction on which the theatre lies, it shows a corner entrance to a large red brick building with terracotta dressings, with side elevations to Green Lane and Crompton Street visible to the left and right respectively and a slated hipped roof above. The outer bays to the left are advanced with banded corners, and circular windows with single keystones are visible on the centre bays. These windows are continued on the Crompton Street elevation to the right of a large semicircular window on the nearest bay. A large sign bearing the name of the bingo club fills the space left where the two elevations meet on the corner, and the name ‘Hippodrome’ appears in vertical tablature either side. A canopy, also bearing the name of the bingo club, covers the entrance and stretches around both elevations.
