  • Description
Photograph of a colour-tinted postcard showing the façade of the Shakespeare Theatre on Lavender Hill in Battersea, London. It has a three-storey, three-bay façade greatly enlivened by the advanced central bay with the entrance under a porch held aloft by Doric columns, which rise up to a pediment with a stone carving of William Shakespeare on its face. A central gable, bearing the name of the theatre and a female figure, crowns the building. Signage is visible at street-level advertising a production called ‘Sword of the King’.
