  • Description
Black and white postcard showing the façade and one side wall of the Grand Music Hall, or 'Clapham Grand', at Clapham Junction, within a streetscape of St. John's Hill in Battersea, London. It is a large and symmetrical building with a decorated iron canopy over the main entrance and two short turrets on the roof. Two alternative entrances lie either side of the main entrance; the words DRESS CIRCLE appear above the nearest. Signage can be seen at street-level and on the first floor advertising shows featuring 'The Five Delevines', 'The Four Magnets' and 'Suzie Protti'. THE GRAND appears in tablature above the canopy. Higher up the single word GRAND appears in larger lettering. A further sign reading GRAND PALACE OF VARIETIES is visible at the top of the building in between the two cupolas.
