  • Description
Black and white postcard showing the façade and a sidewall of the Hackney Empire on Mare Street in London. Flanked by two arched windows, the centre of the façade is dominated by a large balustraded balcony with the name EMPIRE appearing directly above. At the top of the building a single figure of Thalia perches on top of a decorated stone feature that bears the date 1901. The statue is flanked by two corner towers. Various entrances and advertising signage can be seen below an iron canopy. Faded lettering on the sidewall reads HACKNEY EMPIRE TWICE NIGHTLY.
