Façade of the former Hippodrome, Brighton, 2001
  • Description
Colour photograph showing the stuccoed grey façade of a Mecca bingo hall, formerly the Hippodrome, in Brighton. Taken from across Middle Street, it shows a central entrance flanked by square Italianate towers with pyramid-tiled roofs. The tower on the left is in the foreground and only partly in shot. The second floor of the entrance bay is set back behind a small sloping roof and bears the name HIPPODROME in bold tablature. A long canopy, decorated with coloured glass and connected by three projected additions to the centre and both towers, covers the width of the building.
