  • Description
Colour photograph showing the stuccoed grey façade of a Mecca bingo hall, formerly the Hippodrome, in Brighton. Taken from across Middle Street, it shows a central entrance flanked by square Italianate towers with pyramid-tiled roofs. The tower on the right is in the foreground and only partly in shot. The second floor of the entrance bay is set back behind a small sloping roof and bears the name HIPPODROME in bold tablature. An elaborately decorated doorway with entablature lies on the outside of each tower.
