  Colour photograph showing the façade of the Theatre Royal in Brighton. Taken from the south end of New Road looking up to the theatre, it shows the end pavilion of a four-storey brick terrace to the left of a red brick structure with octagonal flanking turrets topped by ogee domes. In the foreground, the pavilion contains the main entrance and a public house (‘The Colonnade’) with bowed windows at first floor level and the name of the theatre on a sign at the top. There are a number of exits at the base of the red brick façade (originally used to provide entrances to the pit and upper levels) and the name of the theatre appears again on a vertical sign above. A colonnade of small coupled columns with bulbous bases extends along the width of all the buildings in shot.
