  • Description
Colour photograph showing the auditorium of the Theatre Royal, also know as the Old Vic, in Bristol. Taken from high up in the gods to stage left, it shows the rear circle, dress circle and gods (all with slips), and two stage right boxes framed between giant Corinthian pilasters to the left of the stage. Some scenery depicting a fairytale setting is visible on stage. The ceiling, decorated in delicate gilded filigree, slopes upwards from the top of the proscenium on the right to the back of the gods on the far left, dominating the top half of the photograph. The balcony fronts, supported by slender fluted columns, are similarly decorated.
