  • Description
Black and white photograph showing the façade of the New (later Albery, now Noel Coward) Theatre. The photograph is taken from opposite the theatre, and from a position left of the entrance, so that the building is seen from an oblique angle. Ionic pilasters divide the classical stone façade into three major bays, each of which has its own pitched-roof canopy hung with advertising signage and supported by brackets and stays; above ground level, the central bay features a loggia of blocked columns which rises to a pediment with sculptures in the tympanum. The production advertised is The Light that Failed by George Flemming starring Johnston Forbes Robertson and Gertrude Elliott.
