  • Description
Black and white photograph showing the boxes to stage right at the Apollo Theatre. The photograph is taken from the dress circle, and from a position to stage left, so as to focus on the boxes to stage right. The dense plaster enrichment on the architectural elements is in the Louis XIV manner. Visible architectural elements include: the stalls, with an exit in the aisle to stage right; the serpentine-fronted dress circle, upper circle and gods; the boxes to stage right; the proscenium arch; the house tabs; and the safety curtain. Plaster enrichment is particularly evident on the box fronts, which feature bird sculptures on the partition dividing them from the dress circle; and, at upper circle and gods level, putti and terms.
