Details
Listed Grade II the Town Hall was built in 1881 with market hall at ground floor level, and theatre above which hosted concerts, plays, operas and public meetings. The imposing four-storey stone building is topped by its prominent clock tower, a feature which is visible throughout the town. The auditorium is a flat-floored hall with loose seating and a single raked balcony. The proscenium stage is also flat-floored, with some flying although no fly tower. Since 1998 the management of the Town Hall has been overseen by the Voluntary Management Committee of Maesteg Town Hall Ltd. The Town Hall is frequently used by local amateur societies and choirs, and also serves its local community by hosting weddings, conferences and other functions.
