Details

Conversion of a 1714 church to theatre in the 1980s. A condition of the conversion was that any interior fittings which were dismantled were to remain in the building. There are galleries at either side of the building and another at the rear which contained the organ. The lath and plaster ceiling has gone, leaving the rafters of the barrel-shaped roof exposed. The main door retains its Georgian fanlight and original glass remains elsewhere. The stage left gallery is used as a scenery store. The rear gallery is now the lighting box and houses a projector. The inserted proscenium arch has panels painted on it together with a painted impression of drapes. There is one communal dressing room, a small administrators office and library.
