Details

The Foresters Hall was opened in November 1911 by Lord Selborne. The hall was hired out to pay for maintenance of the building and the Alton Electric Theatre was established there until the Palace opened in 1914. It was used for theatre productions, except for the war years when films were shown, and was taken over by the Ministry of Pensions and Employment after the Second World War.
