Details

Built out of town on a site of awkward shape the Lyric is a theatre which specialises in producing Irish and European plays. Stepped seating in the auditorium is in straight lines with a transverse break to allow for an exit. The auditorium is wide in relation to the stage which leads to some sight line problems. The auditorium is plain and the end stage has a vestigial opening and limited facilities. Storage is a problem, but a rehearsal space has been created out of two portable units. Front of house is bright and welcoming, and operates on two levels. The company owns land on which further development is planned. Certainly the theatre is bursting at the seams and is in need of a fly tower, additional seating and storage.
