Details

A two-storey building, originally faced in flint with an attic under a slated roof with hiplet towards the street. The façe, intended to give a four-square appearance, three windows wide and three storeys high; the cornice slightly raised in the centre and the outer attic windows blind; now rough-cast finish with smooth quoins and lintels, entrance door on left beside sub-divided ex-shop window both under a bracketed hood. The cornice reputedly carried six or eight classical busts in the time of the Fisher circuit. A plaque commemorating the theatrical past of the building is on the façe at eye level. Flank wall flint with brick chimney. It would seem that the façe was added about 1812 when the Fisher circuit became the theatre’s sole users until its closure in 1833. Subsequently, for many years a residential property but recently offices.
