Details

The present building is a replacement of the original 1875 pavilion at the seaward end of a longer pier, which was partly demolished after the Second World War, leaving the present theatre at the end of a short, unimpressive stump of a pier. It was a flat-floored hall, seating some 500 patrons. Barrel-roofed with no flying. It had been modernised and added to over the years - together with long periods of disuse. It is now a disco and unrecognisable as a former theatre. Very exposed site - structure in need of repair at time of inspection.
