Details

The auditorium, which was destroyed by a landslide c.1977, was conceived as a concert hall, but equally resembled contemporary variety theatres. Now, only the imposing four storey ashlar tenement block of seven bays, topped by mansard roofs in Louis XV-style survives of this once grand venue. The entrance was between shop units with a full length iron and glass canopy on columns, now removed.
