The Point Dance & Arts Centre

2784

The Point Dance & Arts Centre is a conversion of the old Town Hall, a building with a history of entertainment events since 1898, into a centre used primarily for dance. Charming red brick hall with stone dressings, adjoining civic offices; façade with ornamental semi-circular gable. The hall was technically refitted and tiered seating installed, all areas redecorated, and a dance studio added at the rear, bearing a spirited applied stone ornamental feature on the side elevation. Projection facilities were also added and today the hall operates as a theatre and cinema and dance centre. The large foyer with original Victorian fireplace houses the box office/reception and may double as an art gallery and refreshment area for meetings/conference hire.
