Details

The Cockpit Theatre was built by the ILEA as a studio theatre, ownership later passing to the City of Westminster College. The auditorium has a maximum capacity of 240 for performances in the round and on retractable seating. In a thrust stage format the capacity is reduced to 180. The stage is fully flexible but with a minimum of facilities. Possibly the most successful period in the life of the theatre was 1992-5 when the College provided rent free accommodation for the Soho Theatre Company.
