Bacon's Free School was established in 1703, the legacy of Joseph Bacon, a leather merchant of Bermondsey. In 1991, it was developed into a City Technology College. The main hall is multi-purpose and doubles as a sports and entertainment hall, seating 500 on retractable seating for performances. It has a proscenium stage but no flytower. There are two dressing rooms, a green room and a rehearsal room, and bar facilities are available. It is available for private hire to local societies etc. In addition to the main hall there is a 300 seat semi-circular open-air amphitheatre.
