Details
Putney Arts Theatre is a conversion of the old Union Church by Group 64. The initial conversion to theatre use was in 1968, with a 50-seat studio space added to the 150-seat main theatre in the 1970s. Subsequent improvements and additions have been enabled by a number of funding applications and financial gifts. Major refurbishment works were carried out in the main auditorium in 1994, followed by an upgrade to the studio theatre and public facilities in 1998, and later works in 2008 including the renaming of the studio theatre as the Antony Bridges Studio. The theatre has its own workshops, providing creative spaces for the resident youth and adult theatre companies. The theatre is also used by external groups, particularly being made available as a resource for the local community.
