Details

Constructed in the seventeenth or eighteenth century as an industrial building - possibly a linen or rope mill - the building was used at the beginning of the twentieth century by the Monmouthshire Regiment as their drill hall, and later converted (possibly in the 1920s) to theatre use and community hall. Taken on by Monmouthshire County Council in the 1990s, management was passed within a few years to Chepstow Town Council, who continue to run the building for community use, with a wide programme of theatre, cinema and music, alongside other supporting events, weddings and conferences. Audience seating is on loose chairs allowing full flexibility within the hall; and extensive rigging facilities have been installed around and over the stage. This is a thriving facility entrenched in its community and extremely popular for its wide range of events.
