Details

The Park & Dare Workmen's Hall was built in 1908 as an extension to the Victorian Miners' Institute, to provide a performance space for choirs and theatre groups from the workers and families of the Park & Dare mining community. It was closed for many years (during the 1980s), but re-opened in 1987, having been purchased by (and for) the local community. Now run as Cwmparc Community Centre, the hall has a proscenium arch stage, and the floor is partly flat, partly fixed stepped rake. The Hall closed in December 2010 due to loss of funding for the Arts Development Officer, there is no immediate source of funding apparent for the future re-opening of the building.
