Details

Built in 1911, it was one of the largest public halls in North Wales, and hosted the Urdd Eisteddfod in 1929. It provides the local community with a venue for theatre, music and festivals, and other community uses. The Pavilion closed in March 2010 because of health and safety issues, including leaks to the roof, and the presence of asbestos. Repairs were estimated at a cost of £1.3 million, and council recommendation was to demolish the pavilion and build a new venue for the town. Local campaigners 'Save the Pavilion' have raised £70,000 towards restoring and repairing the pavilion. Demolition was due in April 2011, but delayed by court injunction to give the campaign group to come up with a viable financial plan for the building. A further decision from the court is due on 19 July, to allow the Council to proceed with demolition.
